thanks indigokiwi. The deadline is end of March, but we would like a large amount of this raised much earlier, since it involves making reservations, booking appointments, for Eg. with the lobbyist.
We need to raise about $1000 everyday to meet the goal.

Since I (legal immigrant) can not pursue my dream/ happiness I can not improve the life of my kid who is US citizen. I would love to see any lawyer's input...
For those who doubt that a definitive initiative is needed for the Legal immigrant community, may I humbly remind them of the most basic and the most important phrase of the US Constitution..."Every human being has the right to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness". What has been happening with all this memos and counter-memos and visa bulletins from the USCIS and the DOS is a denial of our basic human rights...first as Human beings and then as Legal Immigrants. Friends we can possibly build a strong case based on the informed readings of the US Constitution and Law. We have done nothing wrong to get such treatment buy these departments. We have followed every law and requirement that the US Immigration Law has prescribed but because of the sheer number of immigrants from India and China we are being disadvantaged and discriminated by the US Congress, certain laws and by these departments. It is not a legal immigrants fault that the US Law does not limit the F1 visas issued in a year by country and the number of jobs applied under H1b program by country. The endless delays in the GC process clearly disadvantages the legal immigrant community from large countries like India and China compared with legal immigrants from other countries and even US citizens. They clearly cannot pursue their dreams of prosperity, career advancement, security (for himself and family via education, jobs and homes) and overall happiness. Justice delayed is nearly always denied.

I've no problems you or anybody else challenging me--we're all (mostly) scientists/engineers here, so making assumptions based on observations, and challenging them, should be the first step toward creating a hypothesis (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scientific_method). But science seeks evidence for those assumptions. Staying clear of traps like fallacies (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fallacy) should help.

Thank you very very much fightnow and gsc999 for pushing this forward. As soon as we have confirmation of date and time and location/route, I will send out newsletters to all CA, NV, AZ and OR members who wish to participate. This is going to be good.

no photo is required. They might take a photo of you if they think its old. You can take fresh photos if you want but I don't think that you will need it.

You will definitly be asked and might also be threatened by the US immigration officer when you tell them that you went to canada for landing and you have also applied for US immigration. You can be lucky and might not be asked this question but there is a great possibility that it will be raised. Although there is no law that says you cannot obtain PR for any other country as long as your application for US PR is pending, you will be harassed when you tell them that you are in US on AOS. Remember one thing: DO NOT TELL IO THAT YOU PLAN TO ABANDON CANADIAN PR ONCE YOU GET US PR AS YOU WILL BE COUNTER ASKED THAT YOU HAVE WASTED THE CANADIAN VISA NUMBER AND ALSO PLANNING TO WASTE THE VISA NUMBER AS ANOTHER INDIVIDUAL WOULD'VE GOT THAT. I have been thinking in similar lines for quite sometime now. I have decided to wait till September 2012 to see if dates reach my PD which is October 2007.
If not i am strongly looking at New Zealand too...At least for me i want to work/live in a western country as locums and relax in India when i am off...I dont see myself working in India full time, at least not at this point.
This may not work for most folks but being in Health Care, i have this option.

You are turning a blind eye to his family, while also asking him to spend time with his family. You ask him to spend what he can on his treatment, while his insurance cover may go away if he quits his job and return to fiji/india.
There is no easy answer here.
But if he had his GC, he could spend all the time with his family, use his insurance cover at the same time, and not worry about his family going out of status.
He COULD try to expedite the GC, while also exploring other options.

I am very new to this forum and have been spending some time here just over the past few weeks. I am trying to learn the ropes of this EB green card system. As someone pointed, I belong to those on the "fence" not knowing what or how to be effective with my time and money in these efforts. I like this thread and I think I want to begin my involvement through this effort.
My opinion is that we don't need a 1000 people to contribute to reach $100000 for the effort. Those who are willing to give $100 would not, I think, hesitate to give another $100 or even more to speed up the process. I for one will contribute $200 and if necessary more for this effort.

Once we reach the number of resources, we will have conference calls, meet in person whoever can, arrange for money, decide on lawyers ( which MadhuVJ has some very good suggestions ) and move on from there

I have been waiting for the FP in the hope that they will be issuing it soon, its already Feb and I have not received it yet. Im the only one who has not recieved the notice yet in my friends circle, I have opened an SR last week. Mine is TSC application. Are there any TSC guys yet to receive the FP notices. Overall are there a significant number of people still waiting or is it just a few of us

Your post is a classic example to show how everybody will not understand the other person the same way.
If a person isn't contributing money, isn't participating in state chapters, isn't going to any rally and his/her sole contribution is 'brilliant ideas' that get posted on the forums... only use he/she can be put to is inter-breeding donkeys and horses, like you said!

GKBest, it takes minimum two days to appear on computer records for the customer care to tell you. My application was entered in system on 10th october but rep could only see it on 12th oct.
