Get a letter from your USA office on their letter head that you will be in USA to do just business discussion, and stay will be very short.
Show them that you have strong tie-up's back in India (family/house/properties/relatives etc).
Tell them you have to continue your job in India after the business discussions in USA.
Also show visa officer that you will not get paid in USA (no pay roll); business expenses are covered by company.

You may not use AC-21 AOS portability for future employment green cards. This is because the start date of employment on your AC-21 letter(from I assume your current employer) should be 180 days after filing of your future employment 485. Since you have been working for your current employer prior to that - USCIS will deny your 485

Yes, you can move to H4 and then to H1-B as long as that H1-B is filed within 12 months. Otherwise, your application will be subject to 65K cap limit

I am confused with regards to AOS Vs. CP and which one to choose.
My visa status is L1B with Company A and my green card for future employment is with Company B.
Since I am on L1B, should I choose AOS (Adjustment of status) or CP (Counslar processing) for my I485 processing. Which one wld be the best for me, since I may be in India when the dates become current or may be here in the US ? The timing is a big unknown.
IF I choose CP, what are the steps after I140 approval?
How hard is it to switch from AOS to CP or vice- versa?

My PD is Nov 2004, I got 140 approved. Im not filing 485 now as im unmarried.
Any ideas when can be the date current again(for my PD atleast)?
EB2 or EB3? If EB2 then based on data someone posted here earlier, there is a good chance of you becoming current in the next 12-18 months.

Seriously, is this a prank? If you have a 200k job why would you want to think of IT? IT jobs start paying in that range once you become a director of some kind. Are you ready to take a hit of 80 K because you hate your job?

I have a stable job( non-engineering) and I am making a decent salary(more than 200K/year) right now but I just hate my job.I desperatly want to change my field.

I do not have an engineering background but am willing to go back to school. I would like to start working on this transition while I wait for my GC.

Once the H1-B extension is approved you are good to go(This is a big gray area)!
Some says once the I-140 is revoked , the subsequent H1-B no longer valid. But there is no guidline to prove the same.
As per my knowledge once its approved you are good to go until the expiration date.

You dont need to pay the fees, as it is USCIS mistake - Send the new application form with a cover letter, you can send it yourself.
Now my Lawyer is advising me to include the old fees and a new application with a letter stating motion to refile seeking correction. He is insisting on us to send the fees ($350) again. Any suggestions? Can I send it directly to INS?

My primary tip is patience... By very early, I mean at or just after sunrise... Early's no problem, I don't sleep anyway. :p I'll work on my patience ;)
I've also had great success with a trick Don Bevis shared. You can get thin bamboo sticks... I always carry two of them with me and stick them in the ground so that they apply slight pressure to the plant stem... It doesn't always work, but it does so often enough that it's worth hauling the sticks around... I remember Don's bamboo stick tip now that you remind me. I'll go to the nursury today...
These days I make heavy use of my 5-in-1 disk for diffusion and reflection... but Kevin Sadler talked me into spending more money to get a quality product and I haven't regretted it... Kevin's suggestion of using a quality reflector is a good idea, I'll go the camera store after the nursury...
As for shooting technique, a tripod is a must... and hang the camera upside down... and frequently use mirror lock up... GaryI use a manfrotto 3001BPRO tripod, which allows you to put the camera all the way onto the ground, and even position the center column horizontally, but I use a pan-tilt head that's not too flexible (and I bent it the other day :(). I'll look at ball heads while I'm at the camera store... I never thought of hanging the camera upside down! I'll try that. Great tip. I use mirror lock-up when shooting thru my telescope, but forgot to use it here. Will do.

Thanks to everyone for the feedback. All of it is very helpful and the kind of comments I hope to get for critiques.
Queen, Chris: Interesting that the white rock bothered you. It didn't me until I cloned it out. It was very distracting.
Bob: In #1 I focused on the dwarf Joshua tree in the foreground so everything beyond that should be in focus. I think the image suffers from compression and that's why the plantlife looks out of focus in the mid-ground. According to the lens, at f/10 everything beyond 3ft. should be in focus. I can see all of the individual branches in the full-sized image.
Nik: Not sure I understand what you mean about the polarizer. Didn't know I had that kind of control over the polarized light. Can you educate me?
Don, Josh, and rr3: My plan in #2 was to make the eye start at the yucca in the bottom right and flow through the image to the back left of the scene. In retrospect Don, you're right. It's too cramped. I only wish it was a crop, but it's full frame so I'm stuck with it. Josh, good point about something to balance the image. Not sure I could have done anything about it but I'll watch for a balancing element next time.

The next time I go to Vegas, I hope to have time to hike one of those trails and experience the rocks up close. The third image is not a crop. It's a different image shot with my 105mm macro. Wanted to show the color changes in the different rock levels. It is a portion of the second shot.

Once that point is past, the light quickly becomes very harsh and seems to start bouncing all over the place. I have minimal experience shooting in such wide open spaces and with massive rock surfaces and found it very challenging both times I was there. The polarizer helped a lot this time, but much of doing these landscapes well seems to be knowing the area and timing and positioning.
Queen: I'd hire you in a heartbeat, but don't want you to have the misconception that business travel is pleasant. Getting to do a little shooting on the side is a small payback.

To avoid being like the thread running a few days ago, I don't want to be responding to each response. However, I do want clear a few things:
I am not promoting one parenting technique over the other.
As I said, I agree with a few things and disagree with a few things the author talks about.
Having kids myself, I cannot think of a parent who would do harm to their own child. Each set of parents come with their own parenting skills that works for them and their children. I leave it at that.
I only posted this because my doc asked me of my opinion and I in turn asked the opinion of IV members. If this thread is going to turn ugly, lets stop it, that was not my intention.

I have EB3 PD of 2004 and it will take a while to get GC for sure. I am in a situation where I do not want to go for stamping and want to use AP in Feb 2008. If I do use AP will it invalidate my H1 with the same employer. My H1 6th year ends in 2010. If I get married in India at a later date will it be an issue to bring my spouse on H4 since I am a parolee?
Is there a way around this with a H1 extention at a later date and stamping at a later date?

My wife has a non-working SSN. Will she need to convert it (or apply for a new SSN) to working SSN once she starts working persuant to EAD?
Once you received your EAD card, you can apply for SSN.

Yes, i opened a new thread so that everybody can see that CIS does mostly work on cases according to 485 Receipt Date. Otherwise i can't justify my EAD approval. I filed 485 and AP on June 18th and got RNs 2 weeks later. But EAD was filed later on July 12th. I got the receipt number for EAD from the back of my cashed check but never got actual Receipt Notice. Today i got the email that card production has been ordered.
So if they have to approve an EAD filed in mid July, they must have gone with the 485 Receipt date. There is an LUD for our APs too for this Sunday. I'm happy that they are processing the cases in somewhat FIFO order. I was expecting EAD only 3-4months later since i filed it along with the July flood of applications.

Do you mean EB based AOS alone is 655K? 1.3 million is I-130 petition which is different from AOS.
